Philanthropy at UCT

Philanthropy at the University of Cape Town is about more than fundraising. While fundraising focuses on securing financial support, philanthropy is about building enduring partnerships with individuals, foundations and organisations who share UCT's commitment to advancing knowledge, opportunity and social progress.

The Philanthropy team works across the university to connect donors and supporters with initiatives that have the potential to create lasting impact. Working closely with faculties and leadership, we help shape and advance priority projects that expand student access and success, support world-class research, strengthen teaching and learning, and address some of the most pressing challenges facing society.

Our work is collaborative and global. In partnership with UCT's international offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and Europe, we engage a worldwide community of alumni and supporters who wish to remain connected to the university and contribute to its future.

Our role extends beyond raising funds. We identify opportunities for partnership, develop philanthropic proposals, coordinate donor engagement, and steward relationships with care and integrity ensuring that every contribution entrusted to UCT is used responsibly and that donors are kept informed about the impact of their support.

Through these partnerships, philanthropy helps unlock possibilities for students, academics, and communities, enabling UCT to fulfil its vision of unleashing human potential to create a fair and just society.

Should you wish to make a donation, you can:
