Serron Ben-Tovim
Dear Fellow Alumni,
UCT plays a vital role in South Africa’s future. As a centre of learning, research, and leadership development, the university contributes directly to the social and economic strength of the country. Convocation has an important part in supporting this mission, and I am standing for the Executive Committee because I believe I can contribute constructively to the institution’s long-term resilience and excellence.
My professional background spans medical science research, genomic R&D, technology, and business operations. Across these fields, my work has focused on complex systems, evidence-based decision-making, and implementing solutions that work in practice. I have also spent many years connected to universities, giving me a deep understanding of how academic institutions function and the pressures they face.
I bring an analytical, detail-oriented approach and a commitment to responsible, forward-looking decision-making. I value transparency, thoughtful governance, and academic excellence, and I believe these principles are essential for UCT to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
If elected, I will serve with diligence, independence, and integrity, and work to support decisions that strengthen UCT’s future.
Thank you for considering my nomination.
Warm regards, Serron Ben-Tovim (née Wilson) MBA (UCT, 2018)
