Dehran Swart is a UCT alumnus and holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Microbiology (UCT); BSc (Med) Hons in Community Health (UCT); HDE(PG)Sec in Education (UCT) and a Masters in Public Health (UWC). He has previously directed research on international studies funded by a NIH Fogarty R01 grant as well as by CDC and the WHO. For the past 10 years, he has held the position of Health Teaching Platform Manager at the University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Health Sciences. He is integrally involved with the Healthy Futures SA project funded by the Mastercard Foundation, is a Board Member at Ithemba Lobomi, an NPO based in Thembalethu George. He is also chairperson of the Dr Aadil Moerat Medical Bursary Trust and chairperson of the Victoria Hospital Facility Board.

Gcinumzi Haduse currently serves as the Director of Admissions at the University of Cape Town. With a career spanning over 15 years within the student admissions office, his journey reflects a dedication to the institution’s mission of academic excellence and student empowerment. His background as a high school teacher affords a profound understanding of the educational landscape and a nuanced approach to management. Currently pursuing his Masters, Gcinumzi is deeply passionate about the development of young minds and the transformative power of education. He is also a proud UCT alumnus.
Special bonus guest speaker: Dr Joan Louwrens will also share some of her exciting life in adventure medicine.
