UCT Collaborates with French University to Launch First Dual Degree Programme in Africa

UCT has signed an agreement with French university Sciences Po, launching the first dual degree programme in Africa, marking a significant milestone in academic cooperation between Africa and Europe. The collaboration aims to train experts capable of meeting global challenges in governance, public policy and sustainable urban development. The programme comes with an award of a €120 000 grant by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which aims to support the broader strategic goal of developing academic collaborations between France and Africa.
The partnership will provide students with a unique opportunity to earn two Master’s degrees – one from UCT and one from Sciences Po – in an internationally recognised and prestigious dual-degree programme. Read more about the landmark agreement here.
Launch of the UCT Language Policy

In line with UCT’s Vision 2030 and a commitment to multilingualism, inclusivity and transformation, we were proud to announce earlier this month the launch of the UCT Language Policy. This policy underscores UCT’s dedication to celebrating diversity and fostering an environment where language is valued as a tool for learning, research and communication. The revised policy affirms English, IsiXhosa, and Afrikaans as the university’s official languages, while also recognising Afrikaaps (Kaaps), South African Sign Language (SASL), Khoekhoegowab and N|uu as languages for development at UCT.
