UCT alumni and friends are cordially invited by The Baroness Hodgson of Abinger CBE and former UCT UK Trustee, the Rt Hon. The Baroness Chalker of Wallasey, to the annual House of Lords reception in support of the University of Cape Town UK Trust.
UCT Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mosa Moshabela, will join us in person to share an update on developments at the university.
The programme additionally features Prof. Anthony Figaji, Head of Paediatric Neurosurgery at UCT and the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, and recipient of the Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award.
Prof. Figaji will present the talk, The future for Africa is children: the future for children is Africa, providing insight into his team’s work in decoding the physiology of brain injury in children to improve treatment outcomes, while also highlighting the potential implications of this research for neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
