The UCT Medical Class of 1981 is exploring the possibility of hosting a reunion in Cape Town from 13–15 November 2026, marking 45 years since graduation. The organising committee is currently inviting expressions of interest from classmates who may wish to attend this milestone gathering.

The proposed weekend will provide an opportunity for alumni to reconnect and share memories of their time together.

A provisional programme has been developed, with a range of informal and organised activities planned across the three days.

Proposed reunion programme

On 13 November 2026, the weekend is expected to begin with a UCT campus walking tour from 10:00 to 12:00, followed by lunch at the Vineyard Hotel from 13:00 to 15:00. The day will conclude with an informal braai at Brossy’s from 19:00 to 22:00.

On 14 November 2026, the programme will include a morning lecture at the UCT Faculty of Health Sciences from 08:30 to 13:00, followed by a free afternoon. The evening will feature a reunion dinner at Simon’s Restaurant at Groot Constantia from 18:30 to 22:00.

On 15 November 2026, the weekend will close with a Sea Point Promenade walk and brunch from 09:00 to 12:00.

Expression of interest and planning

The programme remains provisional and may be adjusted depending on final numbers, venue availability, weather conditions and arrangements closer to the date.

Alumni are requested to indicate their interest in participating by contacting helm.c.w@gmail.com and mjbrossy@iafrica.com. Family members are welcome to attend.

To assist with coordination, alumni are also asked to provide their current email address and WhatsApp contact details. A final programme will be shared closer to the time.

The organising committee hopes that as many classmates as possible will be able to join this special occasion to celebrate 45 years since graduating.
